이번 종려주일은 (3월 29일 오전 10시 30분) 홍종욱 목사님이 시무하고 계신 올드 싸우쓰 연합감리교회와 연합예배로 드립니다. 이번 주일의 주제는 “여행자들을 환영합니다! 호산나!”입니다. 첫 종려주일에 예수님은 빌린 나귀를 타시고 로마 제국의 중심으로 들어가신 ‘여행자’이셨습니다.
우리 모두가 예수님처럼 이 땅에 여행자입니다. 비록 우리가 이 땅에 머물기 위해 건물들을 소유하고 있지만, 우리는 모두 이 땅 위에 잠시 머물다 가는 순례자들입니다. 서로 다른 문화와 언어, 지역의 경계를 넘어 복음으로 하나되어 하나님을 예배하는 일은 참으로 아름다운 일입니다.
이제 우리의 ‘편안함의 겉옷’을 내려놓고, 우리의 구원자로 오시는 예수님을 종려 가지를 흔들며 환영하며 예배를 드립니다. 더구나 서로 다른 두 공동체가 하나님을 예배하며 하나되는 경험을 하게 되었습니다. 익숙한 건물을 떠나 낮선 형제 자매들과 함께 한분 하나님, 나귀타고 겸손하게 십자가의 길로 입성하시는 예수님을 모시고 찬양하는 예배에 여러분을 초대합니다. 이 땅의 여행자로 함께 모여 “호산나!”를 외치며 주님을 맞이하는 종려 주일에 여러분을 초대합니다.

Dear North Boston Church Members,
This Palm Sunday (March 29 at 10:30 AM), we will hold a joint worship service with Old South United Methodist Church, where Rev. Jongwook Hong serves. The theme for this Sunday is “Welcome Travelers! Hosanna!” On the first Palm Sunday, Jesus was a “traveler” who rode into the center of the Roman Empire on a borrowed donkey.
All of us, like Jesus, are travelers on this earth. Although we own buildings and live as if we are staying here, we are all pilgrims who remain only for a while and then move on. It is truly a beautiful thing to cross the boundaries of culture, language, and region, and become one in Christ to worship God together.
Now we lay down our “cloak of comfort,” wave palm branches, and welcome Jesus who comes as our Savior. Moreover, two different communities will come together to worship God and experience unity. Leaving our familiar building, we invite you to a worship service where we gather with unfamiliar brothers and sisters, praising the one God and welcoming Jesus who humbly enters on a donkey on His way to the cross.
As travelers on this earth, we invite you to gather together and shout “Hosanna!” as we welcome the Lord on this Palm Sunday.
